foodie find: pimm’s no. 1

Pimm’s No. 1 is a British tea coloured gin-based liqueur that is spicy and sweet with a refreshing earthy flavour. The Pimm’s Cup is classically a highball often served with lemonade or ginger ale and garnished with cucumber. We like to also add slices of citrus fruits and mint leaves for the perfect summer cocktail. When entertaining a crowd we often make up big jugs of Pimm’s and lemonade changing up the fruit and garnishes. Strawberries and blackberries are a glorious variation! There is nothing quite like finishing off a day of fun in the sun than relaxing on the deck with a tall glass of Pimm’s.

Enjoy! x

Beautifully crafted jams imported from France, Bonne Maman Jams are our favourite.  The colours are bright, the range is extensive and the jams are delicious!  These gourmet jams are made from recipes featuring high quality fruit and 100 percent all natural ingredients. They contain no artificial colours or additives, no high fructose corn syrup and are free of preservatives. Bonne Maman is nut-free and gluten-free. This delicious jam comes in many flavours: strawberry, raspberry, fruits of the forest, blueberry, cherry, fig, blackberry, marmalade and peach. The jam is beautifully packed into a 370gram jar and retails for $5.50.  We love the strawberry jam on pikelets and the blackberry jam on toast. We also make a beautiful Victoria Sponge Cake filled with the lightest of whipped cream and ruby red cherry jam.

foodie find: chef’s kitchen crème brulèe

Creme Brulee

Crème Brulèe is our family’s all-time favourite dessert.  We always have a couple of packets of this Chefs Kitchen Crème Brulèe stocked in our pantry.  It is so quick and easy to put together and has never failed us or failed to impress our guests.  The mix allows us to add our own personal twist. We have added rosewater, orange blossom water, lavender, Kahlua, Baileys and even spiced it up with cardamom and a sprinkling of toasted pistachios.  The outcome is always impressive and nobody ever suspects that it comes from a packet.  We have only been able to find this product at Coles in the dessert section and it usually retails at $2.00.

We have never really been in to buying pre-made salad mixes as we prefer to make our own using only the freshest ingredients. But we make the exception when it comes to this kale coleslaw from Coles. It is fresh, delicious, raw, crunchy, earthy and we feel super healthy eating it.
